Accommodation – Peel Forest Lodge

Accommodation is provided in the luxurious Peel Forest Lodge – owned and operated by Bert and Pennie. The lodge is very private and secluded, and you have exclusive use of the lodge during your stay – no staff or other guests stay at the lodge during your time there. With a backdrop of Mount Peel and the Southern Alps behind, the tranquil private setting of the lodge provides an ideal escape from your busy life.

Out front the meadows run out to the mountains with red deer grazing in the fields. Being close to the Southern Alps, it is an ideal place to base your hunting expedition from.

Peel Forest Lodge can comfortably accomomdate up to 9 people. The lodge sleeps 6 in the 3 bedrooms (2 queen, one twin) , and there is a sleep-out with beds for a further 3 people (1 double, 1 single).

The log cabin was build to the family's design 15 years ago, using locally grown logs. Milled timber from the How family property has been used for cabinetry and flooring.

The lounge has a large open fire. Sit back and relax after your day's hunting and enjoy a glass of New Zealand wine while Pennie prepares you a delicious evening meal from local game and produce.

The lodge is surrounded by manicured lawns, and native trees. There are native trees and bush behind which attact local song birds, and views across a deer farm estate in front provide a relaxing vista of the native bush-clad hills and snow-capped mountains beyond.

Peel Forest Lodge is nestled into an accessible area of the 773 hectares that make up Peel Forest Park. The park is just 5 minutes walk away from the lodge, and there are well marked tracks through the native bush to enjoy the tranquility of the forest and the abundant native bird life.
